A Weekend of Progress and Podium Pace
We’re proud to celebrate the fantastic performance of one of our rising young stars, Melissa Etherington, who represented the spirit of Wight Karting brilliantly at the latest round of the Pro Series at Buckmore Park this past weekend.
Melissa raced in the highly competitive Under 65kg Division, where 36 drivers battled it out across three qualifying heats. Each driver rotates grid positions (front, middle, back) to keep the racing fair and challenging — and Melissa rose to the occasion.
Her qualifying results were nothing short of impressive:

Heat 1: Started 4th – Finished 3rd

Heat 2: Started 7th – Finished 2nd

Heat 3: Started 17th – Finished 8th
These strong finishes earned her a well-deserved place in the A Final, qualifying in 4th overall — a remarkable achievement in such a competitive field.
The A Final was action-packed from the start, with the typical first-corner chaos causing Melissa to drop to 12th by turn two. But showing true grit and racecraft, she began an incredible comeback — steadily climbing the pack and ultimately finishing 6th, just behind the leading group. With a few more laps, a podium place could have been hers!
Melissa’s performance is a perfect example of how consistent training and determination can lead to real results on track. Her racing journey is still just beginning, but weekends like this show she’s on a strong trajectory.
