The Finale
Friday the 19th of December was our Race Series Finale here at Wight karting! This was final Round of our Winter Race Series which will see a champion crowned for both the Junior Race Series and the Lightweight Adult Race Series. There were multiple drivers in contention for making the Top 3 for both Series, but with greasy conditions on track we were expecting a surprise or two!
To close out a successful Winter Race Series, we had 4 Junior racers and 11 Lightweight Adult racers ready to take to the track to score as many points as they could. Upon completion of this Round, we awarded trophies for the Top 3 in the Final Round as well as trophies based on the overall standings over the course of the 4 Rounds! Keep reading to find out who claimed victory.
The drivers start with a 5 minute practice/qualifying session which allows them to get to know their kart as well as acclimatise to the wet conditions of the track. The results of the qualifying also sets the grid order for Heat 1, this grid order is then reversed for Heat 2, with the grid for Heat 3 being the combined total points won by the drivers through Heat 1 & 2.
