WKRKC Winter Series: Finale
The 6th and final round of the WKRKC Winter Series took place on Sunday the 13th April. Unfortunately, we only had 5 drivers lining up on the grid for the race but with dry conditions we still expected a spectacle. With the Championship podium all but decided prior to the race, Round 6 provided some interesting battles across the field with a few surprises in the mix.
Format:
-The drivers now take part in a single 5-minute qualifying session where all drivers have equal opportunity to set their fastest time within that 5-minute period.
-The order of the qualifying is then used to determine the grid for the first race. So, the quickest driver will be on pole, 2nd quickest in 2nd place and so on.
-For the second race, the grid will be reversed. So, the slowest driver in qualifying will be on pole for the second race.
-Finally for the last race, the grid will be decided by adding up the total points for each driver from the previous two races. The grid will then be set with the driver who has accumulated the highest total points on pole.
-This Series every point matters, as we are no longer dropping any rounds or races, so every bonus point for the fastest lap or the 5 bonus points for completing all 6 Rounds really matter this year.
Results:
1st: Dale Hunt – In an extremely close field of drivers, it was Dale Hunt who finally claimed his first Round victory of the Series. Dale claimed a 4th, 2nd and 1st place in his 3 races which was enough to propel him to the top step of the podium, finishing with a final points total of 43. Congratulations Dale!
